Former champion Luis 'El Nica' Concepcion (32-3, 23KOs) is targeting a title shot, with his handlers trying to get him a fight with WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras (31-0-1, 25KOs). Concepcion has won nine fights in a row and owns the WBC's silver version of the championship at super flyweight.
The champion is currently able to have a voluntary defense. The World Boxing Council recently ordered a final eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger to Cuadras, with No. 1 ranked Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand being positioned to face No. 4 ranked Jose Salgado of Mexico.
