Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31KOs) returned home to Manchester, and was flooded by UK media, and questions about his future plans for 2008. Hatton told Sky Sports News, no decision as to a comeback opponent has been made, but he won't rule anything out - including a rematch with WBC welterweight champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather handed Hatton the first loss of his career on Dec. 8, a crushing tenth-round knockout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Hatton is expected to move back down to the junior welterweight division, eyeing a possible bout with IBF champ Paulie Malignaggi at New York's Madison Square Garden. He won't make a final decision until after the holidays.
"A rematch (with Mayweather) could be in the offing, and there are fights at light-welterweight. I'm bitterly disappointed. I always believed I could do it, but I think I lost my rag a bit at one stage in the middle of the fight," Hatton said. "I'm going to sit down now and have a few weeks off, get Christmas out of the way, but I'll definitely be back. I'll see what fights are offered to me and sit down and talk to my team."
