In what could turn into a heated situation, Sauerland Event have set a fight between Guillermo Jones, the long serving but inactive WBA cruiserweight king, against the newly crowned WBA interim-champ Yoan Pablo Hernandez in a highly interesting matchup on June 25 at a site to be determined. In the co-feature WBA I/C and WBO I/C heavyweight ruler Robert Helenius will take on an opponent to be announced. Helenius is # 2 in the latest WBO ratings. Helenius knocked out former champion Samuel Peter in his last fight.
The situation could turn heated because Jones was said to be facing unbeaten Ryan Coyne, also on June 25, in the United States. Coyne signed for the fight, but then the WBA scheduled a mandatory purse bid for Jones-Hernandez on April 28 at their Panama offices. There is no word is Jones actually signed for the fight with Coyne, but he was the first to announce the bout, which is scheduled to take place as the co-feature to the HBO bout between Devon Alexander and Lucas Matthysse.
