Fahsang 3K Battery who battles Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao in a fight card titled “Yanig sa Taguig” at an open air arena in The Fort on December 11, impressed fight fans during a workout at the Wild Card Gym in BF Homes yesterday.

The soft-spoken IBF No. 4 super bantamweight went through his regular routine and showed he was in great physical condition which would likely be a plus against Pacquiao whose training appeared to be lacking in intensity and regularity. Fahsang’s manager Jimmy Ekarat Chaichotchuang said his fighter had been training for the past two months and is “in very good shape” for the clash with Pacquiao.

Fahsang demonstrated a vicious left hook and solid combinations when working on the heavy bag and during two rounds with the punch mitts. However, the Thai boxer who hopes to score a stunning upset over Pacquiao and turn into an instant millionaire doesn’t have the quickness of Pacquiao and this may tell in the end. Pacquiao who returned to his hometown of General Santos on Sunday has had a change of heart and  will not train in Kidapawan where Lito Mondejar, a member of Team Pacquiao has a home. Pacquiao would have Mondejar’s RP lightweight champion Fernando Montilla among his sparring partners.

Fahsang and his manager were scheduled to return to Bangkok on Sunday morning while international promoter Murad Muhammad who was instrumental in putting the fight card together despite the odds left for the US Saturday night aboard a Philippine Airlines flight bound for San Francisco.

Murad said he expects to return in two weeks to make sure everything is in place for the December 11 fight card in which the major supporters as Smart and Solar Sports with the assistance of Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga. Fahsang is likely to return to Manila one week before the fight.
