In response to a recent press release issued by Darnell Wilson and his team, WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli told the Evening Post that Wilson a loudmouth who is a "decent fighter" at best.
Maccarinelli returns on Nov. 3 on the undercard to Joe Calzaghe-Mikkel Kessler at the Millennium Stadium.
"Darnell is not as good as he makes out to be," Maccarinelli said. "He is one dimensional and comes straight at you. He is one-paced and will throw five or six punches to land on. But he is a decent fighter. Don't get me wrong, he is no mug or bum. But we will wait to see what happens with him. I know my promoters were looking at someone before he came along. I'm not sure if he is ranked highly enough anyway. But Frank Warren knows I will fight anyone."
Macca said that he has bigger opponents on his mind, but may fight Wilson if some other names fall through. He's sparred over 60 rounds with Joe Calzaghe as both men prepare for their Nov. 3 bouts.
