The ordered rematch between WBA 'regular' heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (34-2-1, 21KOs) and challenger Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24KOs) has been confirmed for October 17th in Germany, according Chagaev's promoter Timur Dugazaev.

Dugazaev says the fight will head to the city of Kiel. Their first bout took place last July in Russia, with Chagaev winning a very close twelve round majority decision.

"The rematch between Chagaev and Oquendo will be held on October 17 in the German city of Kiel," said the promoter. " Right now Ruslan is preparing in Miami under the direction of trainer Pedro Diaz. All of his training will take place there. Then roughly around October 5th, Ruslan will come to Germany."

After the first bout, there was a lot of controversy and legal battles. Oquendo said he was never paid his promised purse. The it became known that Oquendo failed a post-fight drug test. Oquendo alleged the testing procedure was tampered with in an effort to justify not paying him his outstanding purse. Russian promoter Andrei Ryabinski got involved to settle the dispute among the parties.

The winner of Chavez-Oquendo II must make an immediate title defense against Browne (23-0, 20KOs).
