Last week, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. said reigning WBO super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe was the best British fighter in the sport. Calzaghe did not necessarily return the favor when speak with UK publication The People.
When asked about the Dec. 8 bout between Mayweather and undefeated Ricky Hatton of Manchester, Calzaghe said Mayweather was doing too much talking and would likely run during the contest, instead of standing his ground to fight.
"The ones who bark don't bite," added Calzaghe. "Mayweather's doing too much talking - he'll probably run when it comes to his fight. It is nice to carry yourself as a champion and it's good for boxing to have respect for your opponent. Boxing doesn't need fighters who slam each other at press conferences."
