According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is targeting the date of December 11 for his next ring appearance. The possible options continue to be the winner of the July 31 rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz, WBA interim-champion Marcos Maidana, or Michael Katsidis.

The most likely option of the three is Marquez, if he beats Diaz in July. Khan (23-1, 17KOs) will be ringside to watch the fight live in Las Vegas.

"Amir is going to be coming to Las Vegas for the great card that we are putting together for July 31 in Las Vegas at the the Mandalay Bay between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz. Amir is going to be there, and he is going to be observing that fight very closely because, indeed, he might fight the winner of that fight in December," said Schaefer.
