ALA Promotions held the first ever boxing event at the brand new SM Mall of Asia Arena last October when Thai boxer Pungluang Sor Singyu won the vacant WBO bantamweight title at the expense of AJ Banal.
It was revealed at a press conference today that another Pinoy Pride show at the same venue is already in the works for June, 2013. No fights have been booked at the time of writing but ALA would like to match Milan Melindo (28-0) with Tyson Marquez (34-3) and Genesis Servania (19-0) with Fernando Montiel (49-4-2).
Melindo was named as the mandatory challenger for the WBO bantamweight belt currently held by Brian Viloria but at present there is no appetite from either camp to makes this fight happen.
Instead his management are looking to match him with the man Viloria beat in a thrilling fight last November. The other fight being lined up for the June Pinoy Pride show would see Servania put his unbeaten record in the line against Mexican veteran Fernando Montiel.
One thing which was confirmed at this morning’s press conference is that Donny Nietes (31-1-3) will make the second defence of his WBO flyweight title at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, not Manila as had previously been reported. The fight with Mexican Moises Fuentes (31-1-3) is set for March 2nd.
