Arthur Abraham vs. Patrick Nielsen in Play, Agit Kabayel Returns

By Per Ake Persson

EBU heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel (17-0, 12KOs) will defend the April 21 at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin with SES promoting. As for opponent it´s not yet officially confirmed by SES yet but the EBU list Miljan Rovcanin as opponent.

Rovcanin drew with Aleksander Dimitrenko, the mandatory challenger for the EBU title, late last year in Hamburg but after a protest from Dimitrenko Rovcanin was declared the loser. Kabayel was relatively lightly regarded until he beat Dereck Chisora in Monte Carlo. Now he is one of many fringe contenders for the big boys.

In second main event WBO I/C heavyweight champ Tom Schwarz (20-0) will defend the title against an opponent to be announced. The Estrel Congress Center was often used during Universum´s golden years earlier this decade but hasn´t been used for professional boxing events in over a decade.

April 21 appears to be a big day for heavyweight boxing in Europe with Adrian Granat vs Otto Wallin fighting for the vacant EU and Swedish titles in Sundsvall this day. In Czestochowa (Poland) Tomasz Adamek (52-5) square off against Joey Abell (34-9). Abell is well remembered in Sweden after some good fights some ten years ago but have had some tough losses as well including some in Europe. But against Adamek, still good but what he once was, he is in with a good chance.
