TOKYO - Japan's Takahiro Aoh will defend his World Boxing Council (WBC) super featherweight title against Gamaliel Diaz of Mexico in October, his gym announced on Wednesday.

The match will take place in Tokyo on October 27.

It will be Aoh's fourth defence of the title since winning it in November 2010. He now has 23 wins, including 10 KOs against two defeats and a draw.

"I'm sure of my victory if I fight in my own style. By clearing this hurdle, I want to reach the summit," said Aoh, 28, who is also hoping for a unification match against World Boxing Association super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama.

Diaz, 31 and ranked fourth in the WBC, has 36 wins, including 17 KOs, against nine defeats and two draws.
