Anthony Yigit is eager Ready To Impress Against Armando Robles

Anthony Yigit (17-0-1, 7 KOs) is eager to impress as he makes his homecoming fight against Armando Robles (30-4-2, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the Hovet in Stockholm.

Yigit will be fighting for the first time in his hometown, having left the Swedish capital to pursue his professional career, and the undefeated light welterweight says he has been enjoying his time back home, and is looking forward to showcasing his skills in front of his family and friends.

‘’It feels really good to be back in Stockholm,’’ he says. ‘’This will be my first time fighting here as a professional, and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve got a lot of family and friends who have been following me on television and social media, but haven’t had the chance to see me fight live. They will all be coming on Saturday, and it’s going to be a lot of fun showing them what I can do.

‘’I’ve been home since Friday and it’s been a little surreal. Everyone has been talking about the fights and wishing me luck, and now, I just want to put on a good show. I’ve always been a people pleaser. I always want to entertain, but fighting at home, gives me even more of an incentive. I want to give the fans a fight to remember!’’

Yigit faces a tough test against the dangerous Robles, but the 25 year-old is confident he has what it takes to overcome his Mexican opponent and maintain his unbeaten record. ‘’Robles is a tough, durable fighter, and I’m expecting a good fight,’’ he says. ‘’But I’ve been training non-stop, and I know I’m ready, so let’s see what he brings to the table.’’

Yigit’s bout will provide chief support for the interim WBC Female World Welterweight title fight between Mikaela Laurén and Klara Svensson. ‘’I’m really looking forward to this fight,’’ says the 2012 Olympian. ‘’For me, this is the best match-up between two female boxers anywhere in the World, and it’s happening here in Sweden!’’

Having trained alongside both fighters, Yigit is able to offer a unique insight into their hotly anticipated grudge match. ‘’I know them both well and I know they are both hard workers. They both train really hard and they are going to come prepared,'' he says.

‘’I spent a lot of time with Klara when I was in Copenhagen training with Joey Gamache. She is very stubborn, which is a good thing. When everyone else is tired she keeps going, and if she is tired, she will push herself to match everyone else’s level. I admire that about her.

‘’Obviously now, both Mikaela and me are training with CJ Hussein, and I can see that Mikaela sacrifices a lot. To leave everything in Sweden to come to London and France to train is hard. She has that same stubbornness. Even when the training is tough, she’s able to push herself forward, and she’s always able to keep up with the guys.

‘’It’s really difficult to pick a winner. Klara is faster and more technical, but Mikaela is very strong, and she has been building her speed and technique. It’s going to be an interesting fight. However, having spent so much time with Mikaela and seen the work she's put in, I would have to give her the advantage.''
