Angel "Tito" Acosta, who is currently the world champion at 108 pounds under the World Boxing Organization (WBO), will need a little more time to climb back to the ring to defend his crown, but this time there should be no setbacks.

The executive director of Miguel Cotto Promotions, Bryan Perez, revealed that Acosta will finally be back in the ring on June 16 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot de Hato Rey, to make his mandatory defense against an opponent to be announced.

The event will be broadcast by DirecTV.

Acosta had planned to be active on April 7, but an injury to Japanese opponent Ryuji Hara, coupled with a visa problem from substitute opponent Merlito Sabilo, forced his bout to be postponed.

Hara could return to the ring as the opponent in June, but Perez is still waiting for confirmation from the fighter's promoter on whether or not he will be healthy by then.

"The return of Tito Acosta will officially be on June 16," revealed Perez to Carlos Narvaez. "It will be a fight that will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico and soon we will give details of who will be the opponent. We are still working on that."

Acosta is coming off a big career win where he captured the 108-pound crown by beating Mexico's Juan Alejo with a tenth round knockout on December 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The Puerto Rican fighter has a record of 17-1 and 17 KO's.

On the other hand, super flyweight Jose 'Chiquiro' Martinez will be back in the ring for his rematch against Alejandro Santiago on March 24 at the Ferial Complex in Ponce and the bout will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Martinez, who is 20-0-1 and 13KO's, is the NABO champion, which is a subsidiary of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

In the co-feature, undefeated super lightweight Danielito Zorrilla will be active. His opponent is about to be defined.
