According to Mexican promoter Osvaldo Kuchle of Promociones Del Pueblo, there are ongoing discussions to have his fighter, Marco Antonio Periban (21-3-1, 13KOs), take on WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (27-0, 14KOs), who returns on June 20th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California

Ward has been inactive since November 2013 when he won a twelve round decision over Edwin Rodriguez. Periban was knocked out by James DeGale in the third round of their IBF eliminator last November. He returned to the ring on March 14th in Mexico and won an easy six round decision over Octavio Castro.

Ward has been looking to have a tuneup or two to shake off the ring rust.

BoxingScene.com reported last week that Ward's next fight could land on BET [Black Entertainment Television].

"Negotiations are currently at 70 percent. We expect to close in the next few days. They have another opponent, but we are confident that [Ward's team] will go with Periban, who is hungry and hopes to show the world his potential," said Kuchle to ESPN Deportes.
