Andre Dirrell To Face Rowland Bryant on January 19

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com previously reported that the return of super middleweight contender Andre "The Matrix" Dirrell (20-1) would take place on January 19th.  We have been advised that his opponent will be Rowland Bryant (16-2).

The fight will be only the second fight in nearly the past three years for Dirrell who suffered neurological injuries in his March, 2010 disqualification victory over Arthur Abraham. Dirrell's career has also been delayed due to managerial and promotional issues. He is now promoted by rapper 50 Cent's SMS Promotions.

Bryant last appeared in the ring this past August when he lost a unanimous decision to Thomas Oosthuizen.

The card will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York with HBO televising a tripleheader. WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido faces Mikey Garcia in the main event. Gennady Golovkin will defend his WBA middleweight title against Gabriel Rosado while WBO super featherweight champ Rocky Martinez takes on JC Burgos to round out the televised portion of the card.

Send questions or comments to [email protected] Follow Ryan on Twitter @ringsidewriter and tune in to The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio on Tuesdays. The show is hosted by Ernie Gabion, Luis Sandoval and Ryan Burton.

Someone should of told dirrell something a long time ago about boxing. That boxing careers don't last forever. I would feel bad for him if it wasn't clearly him being the one who constantly screws up his own career.
