Andre Berto is Open To Facing Victor Ortiz Next

By Radio Rahim

Former welterweight champion Andre Berto (29-3, 22KOs) is getting prepared for a crossroads battle with Josesito Lopez (33-6, 19KOs) on March 13th from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The fight will headline the first 'Premier Boxing Champions' card on Spike TV.

The fight with Lopez is viewed as an eliminator of sorts to face Victor Ortiz (30-5-2, 23KOs) in a fall rematch, likely to take place on Spike TV or NBC/NBC Sports.

In what many saw as the Fight of The Year in 2011, Ortiz and Berto traded punches and knockdowns for twelve rounds. Ortiz won a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the WBC welterweight title.

The following year, Ortiz was well ahead on points in yet another exciting fight, when he suffered a badly broken and had to throw in the towel after nine rounds with Lopez.

"If it happens it happens. Right now at this time I'm just focused with taking my career to a whole other level and getting back on top where I need to be. The Victor Ortiz fight, like I said if it happens it happens. It's nothing that I'm chasing, but then again I know it's a fight that everybody would love to see. And it's a fight that I would love to have just because. But like I said if it happens it happens," Berto told BoxingScene.com.

Their first fight was fun. I've got no real interest in seeing a rematch though. Ortiz would have a better night with Berto than Rios. Berto needs to beat Lopez anyway first..could be a tough night for him.
Berto has crap luck, he can't help it if he is getting hurt.
or if a country he never been to has a earthquake and is in turmoil.

Berto should fight Porter or Ali next, if he wins against Lopez.
