Alexander Povetkin in Position To Fight David Haye

By Ruslan Chikov

Olympic gold medal winner Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15KOs) is now in position to fight David Haye (25-1, 23KOs) on May 21 at the O2 Arena in London. The WBA has appointed Povetkin to the number two position in their latest rankings. The sanctioning organization has ordered Haye to face the mandatory, Ruslan Chagaev, who is seated at number one in the rankings. Chagaev's Hepatitis B status may prevent a possible fight with Haye. The British Board is reviewing Chagaev's medical records. The involved parties expect a decision this week. If Chagaev is not approved to fight in the UK, then the WBA will order the next available contender in the rankings and that would point directly to Povetkin.

Povetkin vs Haye would be a good fight. I hope this one happens, I think Povetkin has a shot in that because unlike any of Hayes past heavyweight opponents, Povetkin can actually put pressure on Haye.

[QUOTE=WladIsTheChamp;10070988]Two Klitschko duckers facing each other, look for Hayefaker to pull out with a back problem two weeks before and Povetkin's trainer to come out that "Povetkin is not ready even though he has been sitting on this mandatory spot…
