Alexander-Brook Heading To May 18th in Atlantic City

By Ryan Burton

BoxingScene.com has been advised that the clash between IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13KOs) and Kell Brook (29-0, 19KOs) has been finalized for May 18th in Atlantic City, NJ.  It will most likely take place at Boardwalk Hall.

The fight was previously scheduled for January 26th and then February 23rd. The first time around Brook suffered an ankle injury, and then Alexander injured his right bicep to postpone the February date.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is trying to complete a deal to pit IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson versus WBC interim junior welterweight king Lucas Matthysse as the other half of the doubleheader.

Showtime will broadcast the card.

Aside from Froch-Kessler II this is one of the fights i'm looking forward to the most in 2013. Of fights that are happening anyway. Rooting for Brook all the way - Had enough of Alexander's stinkers.

If Peterson/Matthysse gets done this is a great double header for A.C. Boardwalk Hall. East coast boxing fans deserves it.

Sneaky move from Golden Boy, if Matthesse wins he'll be the IBF champ and will no longer be Danny Garcia's mandatory... Thus leaving Garcia to continue fighting lesser opponents until he gets fed to Adrien Broner when he moves up…

I really want to see this fight, I'm counting on Brook to make it a good one so Devon can show that he's willing to fight too. Pretty sturdy WW, I think he's physically strong enough to keep Devon off…
