Acosta Knocks Out 46 Rounds of Sparring For Brandon Rios

By Hilmar Rojas

The lightweight champion of the WBA, Venezuelan Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta (27-4, 21KOs), has already completed 46 rounds of sparring for his upcoming title defense against undefeated Brandon Rios (26-0, 19KOs) on February 26 at The Palms in Las Vegas. By the time Acosta travels to Las Vegas, with trainer Orangel “Memin” Ramos and manager Oscar Acosta, he expects to have completed at least 100 rounds of hard sparring.

Recently at the KO Drugs Gym in Quinta Crespo, Caracas, Acosta went several rounds with Marco Antonio Avendaño, Frank “El Gocho” Rojas, and Jeison Petit. In the morning he does 30 minutes of running, in addition to exercises for coordination and power.

I think this is like a 50/50 fight. Very close competitive fight on paper. I'm rooting for Rios though.

Let's go Acosta, big support. Let's see how many punches he can walk into before he falls.
