WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) has bombarded on Thursday night by reporters who questioned his decision to face massive underdog Andre Berto on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

There were other options, like WBA 'regular' champion Keith Thurman and British star Amir Khan - who's been chasing Mayweather for the last two years.

Mayweather sees nothing that makes Khan a better option than Berto - at least right now. Both Khan and Berto share the same trainer in Virgil Hunter.

"How many championships has Khan won, two. Berto has won two also," Mayweather said.

Berto is seen as a big underdog by the press and the oddsmakers - with betting circles having him listed as small as a 40-1 underdog and as big as an 80-1 underdog.

Mayweather sees him as a very dangerous challenger who will push him to the limit.

"I have been getting backlash," Mayweather said. "They say no one in the sport will buy the fight. I picked him because he is an exciting fighter. My job is to go out there and be a chess player and that is what I did. I found a way to win. Andre Berto is going to push Floyd Mayweather to the limit. That's one thing I do know."
