Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Danny Jacobs earned his 30th victory and the 27th knockout of his career when he stopped Sergio Mora in the second round of their contest. But it wasn’t without nervous moments as the two traded knockdowns in the first round. It was the first time Jacobs was dropped since suffering the only defeat of his career to Dmitry Pirog several years ago.

Its boxing Jacobs said in talking about the knockdown.

“It was more of a balance shot,” Jacobs said. “I got caught in between a switch of orthodox to southpaw. In my mind I’m like 'this guy got nine knockouts.' Even when you got a guy hurt you could be dangerous. It’s my fault I squared up so I can’t discredit him all credit to him.”

The plan for Jacobs and his team was to be the first fighter to stop Sergio Mora. More suffered an injury to his ankle in the second round as he was going down from a punch but Jacobs believes he was on his way to stopping Mora

“I wanted to be the first to stop Sergio Mora and that’s what I did,” stated Jacobs.  When he (Mora) spread his legs, he actually went down on his ankle. It’s unfortunate but there’s no need for a rematch. It was only a matter of a few rounds before I was going to stop him."
