Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo hopes to advance his claims for a second world title fight on Friday when he stays busy against China’s Wang Yi Ming.

Since losing for the only time in his pro career when he fought Chris John almost two years ago, Chonlatarn has won all seven of his fights.

“I got lots of experiences when fighting with Chris John,” Chonlatarn told BoxingScene.com from his base in Thailand earlier this week. “I must prepare myself more than 100 percent to fight with the world champion and especially (against a) legend like Chris John.”

The 29-year-old Thai believes that the experience he picked up from fighting John could be put to good use if he gains a second opportunity to fight for a world title, singling out Vasyl Lomachenko as the man he wants to face.

“I want to fight with Vasyl Lomachenko from Ukraine,” said Chonlatarn. “I am number one with the WBO now, and my promoter will try to bring the champion to come fight in Thailand.”

Chonlatarn (51-1, 33 knockouts) is currently ranked by the WBA (No. 9), IBF (No. 5) and WBO (No. 1).

Here’s what Chonlatarn had to say on a variety of subjects ahead of his fight this Friday.

Anson Wainwright - On Friday, you will be in action, tell us about that fight?

Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo - I will box at Western University, Bangkok. I will box with a Chinese boxer named Wang Yi Ming (2-2, 2 knockouts).

BoxingScene.com: - This will be your fourth fight of a busy 2014, why have you been so active?

CP - I am lucky this year. My promoter promotes me more. I am ready for the world title. So I'll keep waiting.

BoxingScene.com: - Who are the key members of your team?

CP - I am training at the Pra-a-nan gym in Chonburi. My manager Mr. Vichit Prai-a-nun, Madame Pariyakorn Ratanasuban as promoter, are both taking care me well continually.

BoxingScene.com: - The training in Thailand in notoriously tough, what is a typical day?

CP - I wake up at 6am to run with other boxers in the gym. I ran 20 km a day, then come train the gym. I trained for professional Muaythai for six years and with boxing for ten years now.

BoxingScene.com: - What was your youth like growing up in Thailand? How did you become interested in boxing?

CP - I born in Umnatjaroen province, then moved to train in the Chonburi province and started with professional Muaythai, and then got into professional boxing. I started professional Muaythai in 1993 and I started professional boxing in 2003 and I'll fight until I am lucky to get an opportunity to challenge for the world championship title.

BoxingScene.com: - A couple of years ago you challenged Chris John for the WBA featherweight title, though you lost this must have been a great experience for you? Can you tell us about it and how it has helped make you better?

CP - I got a lot of experience from fighting with Chris John. I must prepare myself more than 100 percent to fight with the world champion and especially (against a) legend like Chris John. He is the best in his weight class. I even think if they [would have fought], he [would have beaten] Manny Pacquiao. I must do more homework and train more, longer, and kept myself away from my family. I was not training hard enough.

BoxingScene.com: - What are your thoughts on the featherweight division? Who are you targeting?

CP - I want to fight with Vasyl Lomachenko from Ukraine. I am the number one under the WBO now, and my promoter will try to bring the champion to come fight in Thailand. I always stayed at featherweight. I believe I can win no problem. I have more experience.

BoxingScene.com: - Away from boxing, what do you enjoy doing?

CP - I like Chicken fighting. Chicken fighting is a traditional Thai sport. After training, I go to feed chickens as my hobby. I love action movies, good entertainment. Like Protector http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM2atZfn87M I don’t sing, I love to listen to music like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKx1RRVtuV0&app=desktop. My wife opened a grocery store and selling all kinds of things. My oldest son is six years old and the second one is one year old, and they study in Chonburi.

BoxingScene.com: - Who is your boxing hero?

CP - Mike Tyson because he is brave and honest. He is the greatest in the history of boxing.

BoxingScene.com: - In closing do you have a message for the featherweight division?

CP - I want to challenge for world title. If I lose this time, I will quit. I already learned from my first world championship.
