Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow, Scotland - Young lightweight Martin Joseph Ward improved to 8-0, 4 KOs, following a well-placed fourth-round knockout of tough Welshman Craig Woodruff (5-3, 2 KOs). Woodruff, who was stopped for the first time in his career, went down for the count after two left hooks and a subsequent right hand by Ward.

It took Dereck Chisora nine hard-fought rounds to get the rid of Argentinean heavyweight journeyman Hector Alfredo Avila. It took Anthony Joshua nine times less to do the same, as the latest super heavyweight Olympic gold medalist has blitzed his opponent in 2 minutes and 14 seconds of the first round. Joshua (5-0, 5 KOs) got the job done with a cracking left hook to the temple of Avila. The latter could possibly carry on but chose not to continue. He is now 22-16-1, with 14 KOs.

Super featherweight Michael Roberts scored a workmanlike six-round decision over durable French import Romain Peker. Peker (5-8-2, 1 KO) had some success in the mid rounds but was way too defensive to pretend he had any chance of an overall victory. The sole card was 59-55 - for the British fighter, who is now 14-0, 1 KO.

John Murray (33-2, 20 KOs) got the first significant win after his two-year long lay-off (following his spirited loss to Brandon Rios in 2011), as he blitzed through capable but sliding Scottish veteran John Simpson (25-11, 11 KOs) in two rounds.

After an even opener, Murray began to tee off Simpson in the second round. But the most damaging were body blows. Simpson went down in pain three times in the second after vicious Murray's body shots. He jumped up after each knocked down but he was unable to convince the referee he was ready to go on after the third one. Time of stoppage was 2:58 of the round. A nice win for the former world title challenger.

In a classic cross-roader, undefeated lightweight Scott Cardle (14-0, 3 KOs) stopped determined veteran Paul Appleby (19-6, 11 KOs) in the eighth and final round of their heated fight.

Appleby, 26, who is now just 5-6 since March 2009, plodded forward from the get-go but the first two rounds weren't lucky to him, despite cutting Cardle over his left eye. The veteran did better against 24-year old Cardle in the midst of the fight, using body shots to slow his opponent down. Cardle scored much in the fifth but Appleby did better with single powerful shots in the next two rounds. The winner wasn't solidified coming into the final round but it's where Cardle exploded and landed too much of everything against totally gassed out Appleby. Finally, the Scottish went down for good. He immediately got up but was unable to convince the referee he was OK to continue. Time of stoppage was 1:17.

Scottish Exhibition Centre, Glasgow, Scotland - 2012 London Olympics middleweight bronze medalist Anthony Ogogo cruised to his fifth professional win but hardly entertained the local crowd with his commanding and skillful but a dull performance against Greg O'Neill (3-2). Ogogo, 25-years-old, controlled the entire fight but O'Neill had his share of success as well. Ogogo is now 5-0, with 2 KOs. The sole score was 60-54.
