WBO super featherweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (27-1-2, 16KOs), and undefeated Mikey Garcia (32-0, 27KOs), are eager to trade punches. Discussions are ongoing to match them in the fall. Garcia returned to action over the weekend in Dallas, and took out Juan Manuel Lopez in four rounds. Martinez was sitting ringside at the American Airlines Center.

"Rocky Martínez is a fight that my promoters are interested in and [HBO] is interested in. But that is in the hands of my team. [Martinez] is a good fighter with several defenses. He already proved himself as a champion, and he already well established. I think that it would be a very exciting fight. He always gives [it his all] in a fight and leaves everything in the ring. I think that it would be a good test [for me] to not only fight with someone of his level, but to see how I feel in that division," Garcia told Jose Sanchez.

Martinez is also hoping the fight happens.

"I hope in God that [I get to face Garica] in September, October or November......in one of those months the fight can happen. And if it happens in Puerto Rico, even better. He is a tremendous fighter. I'd like to fight him, and I realize that a fight with me is going to be a good, attractive bout," Martinez said.
