After missing out on an excellent opportunity against former Commonwealth title challenger, Carl Dilks, earlier this year, Manchester’s Hosea Burton gets another breakout chance against the dangerous Jahmaine Smyle on June 1st at the Manchester Bowlers. With Dilks facing medical restrictions back in February, Burton was forced to face Carl Wild at late notice and the stern tests keep on coming as the unbeaten youngster goes in with the well-respected Smyle.

The Leicester strongman who boasts an 8-3 record is currently on a three fight winning streak with his last defeat coming back in 2011 against Welsh prospect, Tobias Webb. Burton has been flawless thus far in his professional career and an impressive victory against Smyle will go a long way to convincing boxing’s public that he is the real deal. Promoter Dave Coldwell is looking forward to what he calls a “proper fight.”

“Hosea Burton for me is one of the brightest prospects in British boxing and I’m confident that this is the fight when people will start saying the same,” said Coldwell. “Hosea hasn’t put a foot wrong so far in his career but this is a fight where he’ll be facing someone who’ll be in his face from the first bell and who also brings a lot of quality too. Smyle is a huge puncher and so is Hosea so there promises to be plenty of fireworks and excitement. This is a fight that will bring the best out of Hosea and I really can’t wait for it to start.”
