Angel Garcia, the controversial father/trainer of WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, directed some of his venom at cable network HBO. He believes the network is not showing enough support to American fighters and focusing too much of their television time on boxers who reside outside of the United States.

He feels the split between HBO and Golden Boy Promotions is a good thing for his son, because he feels Showtime is providing a lot more support to American boxers. He was angered by the network’s coverage given to China’s two-time Olympic gold medal winner Zou Shiming, noting that American Olympians are not receiving the same level of support and fighting for scraps.

"[Garcia fighting exclusive on Showtime], I think that is the best thing to ever happen right now. Showtime is doing it big right now. That other TV channel you mentioned, they criticize our American fighters. Our American fighters can't fight on that TV channel. Now you have to put a good example. That Chinese kid [Zou Shiming] that fought on there, and it's not his fault...and I'm not blaming the man, I'm blaming the politics behind the bullsh*t, there is a lot of bullsh*t. They talk about a billion people in China, but how many of them watch boxing [in the United States]? 20,000?," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.

"C'mon man, you pay this guy [$300,000] for a pro debut and you got American fighters here, who represented the red, white and blue [in the Olympics] and they get $2,500 for a pro debut. Are you serious? And then you talking about a 118-pounder [in Shiming]. You have to pick them out of the woods out there in China and bring them down [to American], out the mountains. Is this really boxing? What is this a joke? This is America. This is why we have all of this terrorism and bullsh*t going on because we don't stick together."

"These guys take all the TV time. They do one fight because they do all of the TV time for themselves because they want be the star. Look at the bullsh*t that goes on. You see it. Every time they have an American fighter [on HBO], they always have some dumb sh*t to say....’oh they are not performing good' but with the other guy they say 'oh did you see that big right hand that he got hit with.' What right hand? Did you see the 20 right hands that he got hit with?"

"When Danny knocked Khan out, they didn't bring Danny back. What, they wanted Khan to knock Danny out? The rematch with [Erik] Morales, they didn't want it. I'm glad what Showtime is doing right now. They are doing it big with Floyd and everything."
