The hard-hitting Jorge 'Destroyer' Melendez (25-2, 24 KO's) returns to the ring on March 2 as part of the event where Mexico's Daniel Ponce de Leon (44-4, 35 KO's) will defend his WBC featherweight crown against undefeated Puerto Rican Jayson 'La Maravilla' Velez (20-0, 15 KO's) at the Apollo Theater in New York City. Melendez is ranked fifth under the World Boxing Organization (WBO) at 154-pounds, where Zaurbek Baysangurov reigns as champion. His opponent is not yet known.
