The World Boxing Council has ordered a WBC final featherweight eliminator between Viorel Simion (16-0, 7KOs) and former champ Celestino “Pelenchin” Cabellero (36-4, 23KOs), with the winner landing a shot at current champion Daniel Ponce De Leon. Seven years ago, Caballero won a twelve round decision over an unbeaten 24-0 Ponce De Leon. The winner of Caballero-Simion, rumored to take place on a date in March or April of next year, would have to wait his turn.  Ponce De Leon defends his belt against unbeaten Jayson Velez on March 2, and there is also a possible rematch with Jhonny Gonzalez, who has a rematch clause from their September fight.
