WBO interim-junior welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39KOs) says that he has very little interest in facing Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22KOs) on July 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

According to Marquez, he prefers to face a southpaw, like Filipino Mercito Gesta (25-0, 13 KOs) and Argentine fighter César Cuenca (42-10, 1 KO), who was scheduled to face Marquez earlier this month before being replaced by Sergey Fedchenko. Irish boxer Paul McCloskey is another boxer who was mentioned in recent weeks.

"I don't like the Rios [fight]. He doesn't make weight [for his fights]. In addition, he doesn't fit our plans, because he is a right [handed fighter]," Marquez said.

Marquez plans to return to the Romanza Gym in Mexico City on Monday.
