WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (51-7, 45KOs) has a tough fight ahead, but he wants to follow through and face Orlando "Siri" Salido (38-11, 26KOs), the featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), in the fall.

Gonzalez defends against Elio Rojas (23-1, 14KOs) on April 28th in Cancun. Salido is looking to return in late July

"This year we want the big fights. We want the big opportunities. One is against Elio Rojas and the other we want to pursue is a unification against Orlando Salido. It would be an important fight. We're been training in the gym since January, because the fight was set to happen in March. But now the scheduled date is April 28th. Much has been said and finally he gets the opportunity to challenge me. We will carry out a fight that the public wants to see," Gonzalez said.

"I would love to face Salido, but first we have the fight against Rojas, and we have to go in there 100%t focused, because we want to face these kinds of opponents."
