BoxingScene.com has been advised by multiple sources that former welterweight champion Carlos "El Indio" Quintana (28-3) is the front runner to face Deandre Latimore (23-3) on May 4th in Las Vegas, NV on the eve of the Floyd Mayweather versus Miguel Cotto pay-per-view event that takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Latimore made his Mayweather Promotions debut in February when he defeated Milton Nunez via majority decision at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Quintana has only fought three times in the past three years.  After defeating Jesse Feliciano via knockout in Decembrer of 2009, he was knocked out by Andre Berto on April 10th, 2010.  He bounced back from that loss by stopping Yoryi Estrella in February of last year which is his most recent fight.

Even though he has been inactive, Quintana makes sense as an opponent from a business standpoint.  The Moca, Puerto Rico native should be able to draw from the large contingent of fellow Boricua's who will be in town to support Cotto against Mayweather the following night.
