Robert Stielglitz (41-2, 23KOs) is annoyed with the recent collapse of his upcoming world title defence against Mikkel Kessler and is ready to concentrate on mandatory challenger George Groves in the coming months.

The 30 year-old, who has made five defences of the WBO super-middleweight belt, was due to face the former 168lb king on April 14th in a bout that has already been rescheduled and is not prepared to wait any longer for the Dane to rearrange the clash.

The Russian-born German is now focusing his efforts on Groves, who ironically pulled out of a rematch with Kenny Anderson on the same day Kessler withdrew from their Copenhagen contest.

“Kessler has called off the fight three times now with no apology,” Stieglitz complained to World Boxing News.

“I was more than willing to box him but it seems that something happens every time. I think the WBO made the right decision in ordering the George Groves fight. How long was I supposed to wait for ‘King’ Kessler?

“It would have made me very happy to fight him, but if he doesn’t want to fight then I am not to blame.”

Groves, 23, was due to fight Anderson this Friday night at Wembley Arena but called the fight off due to medical reasons and has already stated his intention to look towards a world title challenge against Stieglitz, who is confident of retaining his title against the Briton.

“I don’t know too much about George Groves,” said Stieglitz.

“I just know that he is unbeaten in 14 fights, is 23 years-old and he is not bad. We will see on fight night but I am the champion of the world and remain that way.”
