Neven Pajkic has attemped to cool his heated rivalry with Tyson Fury ahead of Saturday night's Commonwealth heavyweight title fight.

The pair have traded insults over the past year but the Canadian was in a peace-making mood when the pair met for the first-time since an angry ringside exchange at Wednesday's pre-fight press conference.

Pajkic, who like Fury is a national champion, said: "There were some words exchanged between Tyson and I.

"But all that matters is inside the ring on the night and who's going to be victorious."

Some of the comments have been personal, with Fury insulted by Pajkic's taunts about his family and his gypsy background.

But Pajkic insisted: "The worst thing I want for you is to sleep for 11 seconds, not a second more.

"I want you to go home healthy to your wife and kids."

Pajkic added he had been "hugely surprised" by Fury's victory over Dereck Chisora back in July, a win which saw him claim the Commonwealth belt which will be on the line in his hometown of Manchester.

Fury sat and listened but said little himself.

"I've been training hard and everything's gone well," he said. "For me, it will be a really good fight."

The rising British star is being tipped to unify the world heavyweight titles by his promoter Mick Hennessy, who described him as a "special and unique talent."
