TOKYO - WBA super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama will face interim champion Jorge Solis (40-3-2, 29 KOs) of Mexico in a unification bout on New Year's eve, organizers confirmed. Tenth ranked Satoshi Hosono will get a crack at WBA "regular" featherweight champion Celestino Caballero of Panama as part of a championship doubleheader scheduled to take place at Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium.

Uchiyama will be making his comeback in the fight after dislocating fingers on his right hand during his third title defense against compatriot Takashi Miura at the end of January.

"My hand has completely healed and I can't wait to get going," said Uchiyama, who will turn 32 next month. "I want to generate some excitement for boxing on New Year's eve."

Uchiyama improved to 17-0, including 14 KOs, after his technical knockout win over Miura.

Hosono, 27, will be getting his first crack at a world title since losing on a decision to WBA super bantamweight champion Poonsawat Kratiengdaeng of Thailand in January last year.

"I have been given another chance and I want to become champion," said Hosono, who is 21-1 with 15 KOs.

The 35-year-old Caballero (35-4, 23 KOs) will make his first defense of the title after scoring a revenge win over Argentina's Jonathan Victor Barros earlier this month.
