Foro Polanco, Mexico City, Mexico - WBC junior flyweight champion Adrian Hernandez (22-1-1, 14 KOs) demolished IBO champion Gideon Buthelezi (12-2, 4 KOs) in two rounds of action. Hernandez battered Buthelezi in the second round. Once he put the South African challenger on the floor, Hernandez quickly attacked with both hands to cause further damage, which also led to well known referee Kenny Bayless jumping in to wave off the action. It was Hernandez's first defense of the belt he won from Gilberto Keb in April.

Because Hernandez won the fight, Buthelezi's IBO title will become vacant - a likely result because the Mexican champion did not pay the sanctioning fee.
