IBO bantamweight champion Vic Darchinyan (36-3-1, 27KOs), and challenger Evans Mbamba (18-1, 9KOs), had no issues with making the weight for their scheduled clash on Saturday night in Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. The challenger came in light, at 53 kilograms [116.8-pounds], while Darchinyan was 53.5-kilograms [117.9-pounds].

“I’ve waited 2 years to face Darchinyan, and now my dream will finally be fulfilled. I’ve gone to great lengths to prepare myself for the fight. I’m ready to make boxing history," Mbamba said.

Darchinyan replied - “Mbamba’s crashing defeat will be something to go down in history. I’ve been training for 16 weeks and I am definitely in better shape. No matter how strong my opponent is, I’ll be the one to send him to the floor. I’m sure the show will be a magnificent one."
