Former champion Fernando Montiel is very disappointed with last Saturday's knockout loss to Nonito Donaire. Montiel lost his WBO/WBC bantamweight titles after a left hook put him down hard in the second round of their fight at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Montiel was badly hurt and unable to recover. Montiel said that he was never hurt like that in his entire career.

"I feel sad because I know the expectations that everybody had for me in the fight. I had a great camp and I felt great but in the end things did not go as I had expected. It hurts my pride because I know that it was a single punch that ended the fight. I'm fine, but yes, I've never been hurt like that before," Montiel said.
