Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was not pleased with last Saturday's performance against Billy Lyell before 12,000 of his hometown fans at the Stadium Dorados in Culiacan, Mexico. Chavez won a ten round unanimous decision. He partially blames his performance on inactivity after returning from a seven month layoff. Another partial problem is motivation. He says it's hard to get motivated in camp for these kind of opponents.  The Mexican star is tired of facing tough opponents who carry very little name value and says his fans are getting tired too.

"I think I shouldn't do this kind of fights. People want to see me fighting for championships, against fighters with a name, like maybe Sebastian ZBik, Sebastian Sylvester, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito. I need motivation and I do not want to waste more time. I want my promoter to trust me, and if they don't, then take a risk on me, because I think that's why I'm here to make that gamble in the ring and I also want to see what I can bring," Chavez told Sal Rodriguez.

A fight with Zbik for the WBC middleweight crown is being discussed for May 14 or May 21 in Mexico. Chavez is working around the schedule of his trainer Freddie Roach. The "trainer of the year" will be working with Manny Pacquiao for his bout with Shane Mosley on May 7.

"We should find ways to train earlier, but it's a fact that I have to concentrate for about eight weeks to have no margin of error in what I hope will be the biggest fight of my career," Chavez said.
