The General Secretary of the Russian Boxing Federation, Umar Kremlev, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Kremlev is currently in the hospital under the supervision of doctors.

Ironically, Kremlev went to a local hospital to get vaccine shot for COVID-19, but prior to receiving the vaccination he was tested and came up positive for the virus.

"I came to get the vaccine against the coronavirus. I took a test and it gave a positive result, then I took a second one - it also gave a positive result. In the evening, a sore throat started, there was a temperature. Now they gave an injection, I am in the hospital," Kremlev told tass.

The RBF previously reported that the situation with Kremlev will not affect the work of the organization.

Kremlev's condition is said to be stable and receiving treatment.

Kremlev, 37 years old, he has been the head of the Russian Boxing Federation since 2017. Kremlev is also a member of the executive committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and the head of the commission for the development of the organization, attracting investment and marketing. There has been some talk of Kremlev eventually becoming the top executive figure of the AIBA, as they continue to restructure things.
