Miguel "Alacran" Berchelt (34-1-0, 30 KO's) is getting lean and being mean, readying himself for a full scale battle with country rival Miguel Roman.

Miguel is facing down the division's mandatory challenger, ruthless "Mickey" Roman (60-12-0, 47 KO's) on Saturday, November 3 at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

The match is presented by Zanfer, Max Boxing and Top Rank. It`ll be broadcast in the United States by ESPN, and in Mexico by Azteca 7.

Berchelt is hardening his heart, his body plus his mindset, in Hermosillo, Sonora, supervised by  his coach Alfredo Caballero.

Over the course of the last few months, Roman has taken numerous verbal jabs at Berchelt in the media.

Those words have given Berchelt some added motivation to do damage in the ring.

He's been battering his sparring partners in the gym, in order to send a message to Berchelt.

“I’m so eager to put Roman in his place, that when sparring I imagine it’s him and I squeeze my mind to visualize him in my sparring. An apology is in order because I have hurt my sparring partners. But immediately the action stops and I apologize to them. They are used to it because my coach Alfredo Caballero tells us to go all out in sparring sessions," Berchelt said.

“Here there is more at stake than a win...it`s pride!   I want to teach a Roman a lesson. I`m totally fed up with all of  his speeches. In the ring my fists will deliver the punch line,” the WBC world champion declares, with glare.

Roman became the mandatory challenger last December, when he scored an upset knockout over veteran Orlando Salido in Las Vegas. At the time, Salido was the mandatory challenger. He was scheduled initially to face Berchelt, who withdraw with injury and then Roman stepped in on late notice.
