Abel Sanchez, the head trainer for IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, is picking Daniel Jacobs to beat both Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Jermall Charlo.

Last month, Golovkin was stripped of his IBF middleweight title - for failing to reach an agreement to fight Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) in a mandatory fight.

Instead of fighting Derevyanchenko, Golovkin finalized a far more lucrative option - a high profile pay-per-view rematch with Canelo Alvarez, which takes place on September 15th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The IBF has now ordered Derevyanchenko and Jacobs to fight each other for the vacant belt.

It's certainly a strange situation - as both fighters share the same manager and they are both trained by Andre Rozier.

In a recent interview with BoxingScene.com, Rozier made it clear that he would work the corner of Jacobs if a Derevyanchenko fight came together.

In March 2017, Jacobs had the best performance of his career in losing a close twelve round decision to Golovkin at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Despite Jacobs not looking as impressive in his recent outings, Sanchez is very confident that he beats not only Derevyanchenko but also Charlo, who is currently the WBC's mandatory challenger.

"I think that Danny wins that fight [with Derevyanchenko]. Danny is a bigger guy, he's more experienced. I know that he hasn't looked as good in a couple of his recent fights, maybe because he wasn't as motivated. Sometimes you need that motivation, something that gets you up. And against Derevehcnko, he would be like 'Hey, I'm the older brother.' I think Danny would beat him. And Danny would beat Charlo," Sanchez told BoxingScene.com.

"Danny is one heck of a fighter. He didn't run against Golovkin. He stood there and fought. He's a really good fighter and I just think that these other guys are just not at that level."
