Carl Frampton is prepared to offer Leo Santa Cruz the biggest payday of his career to try and lure him to Belfast this summer.

The Mexican appears to be going back on his promise to come to the Jackal's Den for a much anticipated trilogy fight, but Frampton and his team aren't giving up yet.

Frampton has been calling for the rematch since the referee raised Santa Cruz’s hand at the end of the second fight in Las Vegas in January.

Santa Cruz said he would travel to Belfast for a third fight, but has since claimed his father doesn't want him to as the judges would favour Frampton.

This week he's taken a different direction calling out IBF Featherweight Champion Lee Selby for a unification fight.

“We’re offering him the biggest pay day he’s ever had and more than he’ll get if he fights someone else to come to Belfast, if he doesn’t come after that then he’s not a man of his word and I’ll lose respect for him,” Frampton told UTV’s Sports Correspondent Ruth Gorman.

Welshman Selby also spoke out this week about his desire to fight Frampton.

A Twitter poll on Selby's account shows fans want him to face Frampton next, but Selby wants the fight in Cardiff at the Principility Stadium in front of 40,000 fans instead of 24,000 at Windsor Park.

Frampton commented: “Lee Selby is a great fighter and I have a lot of respect for him, he is a champion but he needs to realise that he has been on the undercard of big fights, he would not attract the crowds, if we fight each other, which is a realistic prospect if Santa Cruz doesn’t play ball, then it will be in Belfast.”

Frampton also revealed that his team has provisionally booked a couple of potential dates for a summer fight at Windsor Park.

Whoever his opponent will be he’s promising a summer show down at the National Stadium.

The Jackal added: “To have a ring in the centre circle of Windsor Park would be an absolute dream come true for me, we have a couple of dates set aside there so we’ll have to wait and see who the opponent is but I want it to be Santa Cruz and so do the fans.”
