Junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan got what he wanted, to become a promotional and managerial free agent.

The boxer revealed that he's free and clear of any contractual obligations to adviser Al Haymon or promoter Tom Brown of TGB Promotions. The split comes as no surprise, as Vanes was openly complaining about the direct of his career last October. He claimed Haymon and Brown were keeping him inactive and avoiding his phone calls.

“I want all my boxing fans to know that I’m not happy with my manager, Al Haymon, and my promoter, Tom Brown,” Martirosyan wrote on Twitter. “They are holding me back! I have too much respect for this bulls*t. They don’t wanna answer my calls, but they answer my tweets! Champs keep cherry picking around each other.”

Vanes has been out of the ring since last May, when he last a twelve round unanimous decision in his rematch with WBA champion Erislandy Lara. His two other career defeats - also by decision - came at the hands of current WBC champion Jermell Charlo in 2015 and former WBO champion Demetrius Andrade in 2013.

With a record of 36-3-1 (21 KOs), the former Olympian is now pushing to secure the biggest fights possible.

Vanes, who at one time was handled by veteran manager Shelley Finkel, was promoted for most of his career by Top Rank, but parted way with the promoter in the first quarter of 2014.

He then signed with Haymon in mid-2014, and also in the same year he signed a promotional deal with the late Dan Goossen of Goossen-Tutor Promotions. Tom Brown — Goossen’s brother-in-law — renamed the company to TGB Promotions after Goossen passed away. Brown works very closely with Haymon.
