7 Day Weights: Gennady Golovkin 162, Daniel Jacobs 167.8

This past Friday,  WBC, IBF, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) and mandatory challenger Daniel "The Miracle Man" Jacobs (32-1, 29 KO's) took part in the WBC's mandatory 7-day weight check.

According to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, the unified champion weighed in 162-pounds. For his part, Jacobs weighed in at 167.8-pounds. Both boxers were under the WBC's required 7-day maximum. Golovkin is lighter than he was for his last bout, which took place last September against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook. For that contest, Golovkin was 162.9-pounds seven days out before his defense, which he won by TKO in five rounds.

For their 30 day weight check, Golovkin weighed in 165.1-pounds, and Jacobs came in at 174.8-pounds.

Their fight will headline "Middleweight Madness" on March 18 at the legendary Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.

In the HBO Pay-Per-View co-feature, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez will defend his WBC super flyweight title against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai..

Born and raised in Brownsville, a location  that has produced many legendary world champions, including Mike Tyson and Riddock Bowe, Jacobs has scored great KO'S against outstanding opponents during his nine years as a pro.

"Gennady is a great fighter, he always has several fight plans. They can plan what they want and overestimate me, but in the end I will be victorious on March 18," said Jacobs, from his training camp in Oakland, California.

In the most impressive fight of his career, on December 5, 2015, Jacobs dramatically defeated unbeaten former champion Peter Quillin in the first round in Brooklyn, New York.

Most recently, Jacobs knocked out Sergio Mora  in the seventh round on September 9, 2016. Jacobs has won his last 12 fights by knockout.
The card is presented by K2 Promotions, tickets for "Middleweight Madness" cost $ 1000, $ 600, $ 400, $ 300, $ 200 and $ 100 dollars, and can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office and online at  or

Really tired of this GGG back and forth. People need to grow up, discuss like adults and wait and see what his career/resume is like in the next few.
