Zab Judah gave a spirited effort against Danny Garcia on a Golden Boy Promotions card in April.
The fight might have paved the way for a new relationship.
BoxingScene.com has been advised that Judah, along with his promotional firm Super Judah Promotions, is working toward a deal with Golden Boy to promote his next few fights, per a source familiar with the talks.
Golden Boy has a rich stable of fighters at 140 pounds, where Judah currently campaigns, and also at 147 where Judah formerly competed. Judah was the undisputed welterweight champion in 2005.
The 35-year-old resident of Las Vegas gave a good account of himself against Garcia and certainly has some good fights left in the tank. He also still draws in his native Brooklyn, N.Y., where Golden Boy has focused on promoting their east coast bouts, buoyed by their exclusive deal with Barclays Center.
The last time Judah exclusively was fighting under the banner of a major promoter, it was with Main Events from 2010 to 2012. His fights against Amir Khan and Lucas Matthysse were Main Events-Golden Boy co-promotions.
