Former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa is already itching to get himself back in the gym. He wanted to start training while sitting down. The 2004 Olympic Gold medalist and former featherweight titlist was officially diagnosed with a complete tear and retraction of his right Achilles tendon, according to a medical report from earlier this month. Gamboa fought for more than 10 rounds essentially on one good ankle in an eventual 12th round stoppage defeat to the unbeaten Davis in their Showtime headliner last December in Atlanta, Georgia.

Gervonta Davis didn’t waste any time responding to Terence Crawford’s criticism of his performance against Yuriorkis Gamboa. Davis replied Monday night to Crawford’s critique on Twitter by comparing what he did during a 12th-round stoppage of Gamboa on Saturday night to how Crawford fared in beating Gamboa by ninth-round technical knockout 5½ years ago. Crawford floored Gamboa four times altogether, twice in the ninth round after Gamboa memorably buzzed Crawford with a right hand.
