Yuriorkis Gamboa (22-0, 16KOs) was ringside at the Magic City Casino in Miami, Fla. for the debut of the 15th season of ESPN's Friday Night Fights. Gamboa lives in Miami and was there to support his fellow countryman Rances Barthelemy, who fought in the main event.
Gamboa returned after a 15-month layoff in Dec., outpointing Michael Farenas on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez 4 undercard. ESPN's Bernardo Osuna asked Gamboa about his future plans and the Cuban now campaigning at junior lightweight and fighting under the banner of 50 Cent's SMS Promotions reaffirmed his interest in a high-profile clash with WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21KOs).
"The next thing is for me to defend the title I won in December, but we're looking for a name," said Gamboa. "[A potential Broner fight] doesn't just depend on me, I hope Adrien Broner will accept this fight as well."
