Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa is patiently waiting to get back in the ring. Gamboa is waiting to see what happens with the outcome of his promoter, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson. Gamboa is promoted by SMS Promotions, which recently filed for bankruptcy.
Gamboa (24-1, 17 KOs), 33-years-old, has not been very active over the last few years. Last year, he put in a very courageous effort against WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford, who stopped the Cuban boxer in nine rounds.
He came back on a November date in Mexico and stopped Joel Montes de Oca is six rounds.
A source close to the boxer told ESPN Deportes that he's very interested in super featherweight fights against WBO champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KO), who won two gold medals in the Olympics, and undefeated featherweight puncher Nicholas Walters (26-0, 21 KO).
Gamboa's interest in those fights would indicate his interest in moving down to the featherweight limit of 126-pounds, where he is better suited given his size. He weighed 131.5 for his last fight and continues to train hard in Las Vegas while waiting for news on his next fight,
