Youri Kalenga has now won five straight fights in five different countries, the latest coming in a 12th round knockout win of previously unbeaten Denton Daley in their cruiserweight clash Saturday evening in Mississauga, Canada.
The once-beatek Kalenga - a Congolese boxer living in and fighting out of France - proved to be too much to handle for Daley, undefeated heading in but taking a considerable step up in class. The local favorite put up a brave effort, but ultimately succumbed to Kalenga's power, unable to absorb any more punishment as the bout was stopped late in the fight.
The official time was 1:52 of round twelve.
Kalenga continues to thrive while filling up his passport. The 26-year old secondary cruiserweight titlist rolls to 21-1 (14KOs) to close out a big 2014 campaign that saw wins in Ireland, Monaco, and now Canada. His last fight at home in France took place last November, kicking off his current win streak.
Guiding the career of the surging cruiserweight is manager Gary Hyde, who also handles Guillermo Rigondeaux and Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam.
Daley suffers the first loss of his career, falling to 12-1 (6KOs).
The bout aired on Pay-Per-View in Canada.
