Yoan Pablo Hernandez-Firat Arslan Set For Aug. 16

On August 16th (live on ARD) at the Erfurt Exhibition Hall, Yoan Pablo Hernandez (28-1, 14 KO's) will defend his IBF cruiserweight crown against dangerous former champion Firat Arslan (34-7-2, 21 KO's). For Hernandez, this will be his first fight of 2014. He last fought on November 23, 2013 against Alexander Alekseev.

"I had a stomach virus which repeatedly returned, so I could not box. I am happy to fight again, I'm in top shape and my title will not be taken from me," Hernandez says triumphantly.

For Arslan, at 43, it is certainly his last chance to end his career with a world title. At the end of January, he was knocked out in six rounds in his rematch with WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck.

"I want to thank the Sauerland team that once again I am getting a world title opportunity. I will do everything to ensure that the audience will see a great fight. My dream is to once again become a world champion."

An official press conference will take place on July 3 in Erfurt.

Tickets for the event on August 16 in Erfurt are available through the telephone ticket hotline 01806-570044 (€ 0,20 / min., Mobile max. € 0,60 / min.) And on the Internet at www.eventim.de.

I really like the Cruiserweight division but it is lacking in unification fights. YPH & Huck are both with Sauerland and won't fight each other but I'd like to see Huck vs. Lebedev and/or Hernandez vs. Wlodarczyk.

Arslan doesn't deserve title shots, title shots deserve Arslan.

There is a lot of great matchups to make at cruiser but this isn't one of them

Lame fight however YPH is always a bit scary if you're a fan he has a habit of making things harder than they should be.

What a joke fight arslan gettin another world title shot. Two in one year people dont get two in their career. Sauerlands are worse than al haymon they match their fights too easy. Abraham vs smith thats a joke fight.…
